There was serious panic in the Kurudu, Jikoyi community in the outskirt of Abuja this morning after a loud explosion was heard. Residents in the area were reportedly seen running for safety when they heard the loud sound. It was initially thought to be a bomb blast but a Spokesman for the Nigerian army assured people it wasn't, explaining that a rock blocking a new road being constructed from Karishi to Apo in the Abuja city centre, was blasted with dynamites to help free the road and allow construction to go on smoothly. BREAKING NEWS: Another Girl Escapes From Boko Haram And Tells Her Story!

Another escaped victim, identified as Godiya Simon, who was among the 234 abducted girls, by Boko Haram members on April 14, yesterday narrated her ordeal in Sambisa Forest. Speaking to journalist in Maiduguri, on how she escaped from the dreaded sambisa forest, she explained that after their kidnapping, they were made to walk through the forest where they were later kept in an open place inside the forest. “The place we were kept was not just right and I felt that these people might kill us. We heard many bad things about them. I then began to plan how to escape. I told them that I wanted to urinate which they said no to, but after I kept repeating it, they allowed me to go along with three others. That was the time we escaped from the camp” she said. The escapee, who said she couldn’t trace her way back to the forest acknowledged that they were held in the forest, as they could hear the sect members talking. “No, I do not think I will know, you know we travelled at night. When we went to urinate, we started running. We were too scared, we just kept running, believing that with God on our side, we would get help” she said. Simon said after they had ran very far from the forest, they fortunately came across a Fulani herdsman, who helped them out of the bush to the express-road where they boarded a vehicle back to Chibok. She disclosed that she was in Maiduguri, because they were asked to come and watch a video that was recently released by the Boko Haram, leader Abubakar Shakau, in order for them to ascertain if the other girls who are still in captivity are all from GGSS. Simon, who confirmed that there were many of her schoolmates in the video, added that she felt a little bit relieved seeing that they are still alive, and expressed optimism that they will come back like she did. The elated escapee asserted that she felt bad when she saw some her schoolmates that are Christians reciting the Holy Koran. “It makes me feel sad knowing that they must have been forced to recite the Koran. There was a loud explosion in Jos, the Plateau State capital at about 3:00 p.m. this afternoon The explosion, believed to have been caused by a bomb, occurred around the ever busy Jos Main Market, between Railway Terminus and temporary site of the Jos University Teaching Hospital. The explosion was followed by a thick smoke and is believed to have affected many shops and commercial vehicles The explosion has created tension in the area with cars colliding as drivers scampered for safety. Boko Haram Plan to Invade Schools, Abduct Male Students In Makurdi, Benue State»»

The Boko Haram terrorist sect have threatened to invade the Government College and the Mount St. Gabriel Secondary School in Makurdi, Benue State, to abduct male pupils. The Principal of the College Godfrey Ugudu disclosed yesterday he had received two letters dated May 14 with identical content. One of the two letters was picked up in one of the classroom, while another one found in the staff room. Both were written in pidgin English. The letters contained a warning that the sect are going to attack the College and the neighbouring catholic Mount Saint Gabriel Secondary School either on Friday (May 16) or on Monday (May 19) with the intention to kidnap the boys to marry them to the Chibok school girls Boko Haram still hold in captivity. According to the College principal, they immediately alerted the local police Commissioner for Education and reported the matter to Governor Gabriel Suswam. Ugudu subsequently commended the state government and security operatives for immediately reacting to the issue and ensuring safety of the pupils of both educational institutions. On Saturday, security measures were enhanced at the Aper Aku Stadium road that links the two schools. According to the News Agency of Nigeria, about 500 of approximately 700 students are living in Government College (which is the alma-mater of Governor Suswam), while Mt. According to the Associated Press, a leader of a protest march for 276 missing schoolgirls said that Nigeria’s First Lady ordered her and another protest leader arrested Monday, expressed doubts there was any kidnapping and accused them of belonging to the Islamic insurgent group blamed for the abductions. Saratu Angus Ndirpaya of Chibok town said State Security Service agents drove her and protest leader Naomi Mutah Nyadar to a police station Monday after an all-night meeting at the presidential villa in Abuja, the capital. She said police immediately released her but that Nyadar remains in detention. The national police spokesman referred a journalist to the spokeswoman for police in Abuja. Reached on the phone, the spokeswoman said she was driving and could not immediately respond. Ndirpaya says First Lady Patience Jonathan accused them of fabricating the abductions. “She told so many lies, that we just wanted the government of Nigeria to have a bad name, that we did not want to support her husband’s rule,” she said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press. She said other women at the meeting cheered and chanted “yes, yes,” when Mrs. Jonathan accused them of belonging to the Boko Haram terrorist network. “They said we are Boko Haram, and that Mrs. Nyadar is a member of Boko Haram.” She said Nyadar and herself do not have daughters among those abducted, but are supporting the mothers of kidnapped daughters.

Woman Sells Her Son’s Baby For N350,000 In Imo State»»

According to Sun News, Mrs. Tina Iwuji, a 52 year old mother from Ezinihitte Mbaise LGA, Imo State has been arrested by the Imo state police command for allegedly selling the two weeks old baby of her son’s girlfriend. Mrs Iwuji son, Emeka had impregnated his Lagos girlfriend, Esther Godwin, a native of Ndoki, Delta State and then decided to send her to his mother without telling his mum that he owned the pregnancy and also instructed Esther not to open up to his mother that he was the who got her pregnant. Mrs Iwuji accepted Emeka’s request and allowed Esther move into her house in January 2014. Esther eventually gave birth, and just two weeks later, Mrs Iwuji sold the baby for N350,000 not knowing she was selling her own grand daughter. Mrs Iwuji told Sun “It was my son Emeka Iwuji who brought Esther as a friend not a wife from Lagos to my home in Mbaise, Imo State. I asked Esther who was responsible for her pregnancy and she said it was not my son. I asked her what was her mission and whether her mother was aware that she came to Mbaise but she said no. She came to the house on January 7, 2014″ she said Esther gave birth on April 11th to a baby girl at Hope Clinic and Maternity, Mbaise and on hearing that she had given birth, Emeka asked his mum to facilitate means of selling the baby and the proceed given to Esther for her to use to further her education. Mrs Iwuji then began mounting pressure on Esther and not too long a nurse, Eunice Eze, who is in the baby sale syndicate came into the picture and she contacted another lady, Patricia Njoku who then identified a willing buyer, Mrs Benardine Abara who needed a girl to compliment her three sons. Even with all the contacts made, Esther was still not game to sell her child. Seeing that the young lady would not give-in, Mrs Iwuji connived with her brother to take Esther somewhere where her child was forcefully taken away from her and handed to Eunice who then sold it to Mrs Abara for N350,000. Distraught Esther then went to the Mbaise police station to report the case and all the parties except Emeka have been arrested. It was at the station that Mrs Iwuji got to know that the baby she had been bargaining to sell all along was her own grandchild. A shocked Mrs Iwuji said” “It was when I was arrested with the other people that Esther confessed that my son Emeka was responsible for her pregnancy. Shocking » Generator Fumes Kill Family Of Seven In Lagos State

A man identified as Etim Edet, his wife and five children were killed by generator fumes last weekend in Lagos. The man was reportedly a staff of Nigeria Brewery Plc. The family of seven was suspected to have been killed by fume from a power generator mounted in the house. The late Etim, was reported to have been last seen at his place of work on April 25, 2014. Apprehension reportedly set in following his absence on April 28, without prior notice, an action his colleagues described as unusual. Tension heightened over his continued absence till Friday, with calls on his mobile telephone unanswered. Some of his colleagues said to have gone to check on him at home became curious following the stench that was emanating from the building. Consequently, policemen from Ijede division were alerted and when the door was forced open, the decomposing bodies were discovered. The bodies included that of Edet, his second wife, his 17-year-old eldest son from his first wife, a female relation, whose age was put between 14 and 15 years and three other children born by the second wife, aged seven, five and three years respectively. A resident, who identified himself as Mr Ayodele Disu reported that the Edets could have been rescued had there been houses around theirs. Police sources explained that power generator fume was suspected as the cause, following the discovery of a 3.5 KVA power generator there. Describing the incident as sudden and unnatural death, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide said: “At about 4.00pm, one Etim Edet , a staff of Nigeria Brewery Plc Lagos was allegedly found dead with his wife and five children on their beds at his residence at Bagido area of Ijede. “No sign of violence was seen on their bodies.
