What It Takes To Make A Hit Song

The most important thing in making a hit song
is the most ignored thing when Nigerians attempt to make one. I will go straight to the point,

Wont even make you wait till the end of
this article.

Here it is: have a song worth
listening to, a memorable song and watch Nigreians pick you up and by their own hands,

mouth,
mobile phone,
tablets e.t.c
promote you.
simple

If you still don’t get it, Im saying just
have a “sweet song”.

Promote it and watch it
catch like wild fire.

Thats all.
Now, wait, wait, before you run off to the studio
in pusuit of your own “sweet and memorable
song”.

A sweet song doesn’t have to be a “stupid
song” , the “stupid songs” made by Nigerian
artists that also coinsidentally happen to be
“sweet songs” are mere coinsidences and the
exceptions to the rule not the rule itself.

A good
example is my all time favourite “gaga crazy” by
Chuddy K.

I love that song, but I will not deny
the fact that there is no sense to that song.
Non
what so ever.

But it is a very very “sweet” and
hence memorable song, so it became a hit. I am
sure that no Nigerian who actually likes that
song can claim that it has any meaning, but we
love it non the less. Another “sweet song” is

Burna Boy’s “Like to party” . That song is
“sweet” and meaningful. But what do both songs
have in common.

They are songs you want to
hear again after the first time.
So if you are like me you will go through all the
music websites trying to download it, share the
song with all your friends, request it on any and
every radio show,

why, because its a “sweet
song” and want to hear it over and over again.

You also want everyone to hear it and trust me a
lot of Nigerians are like me.

We are tired of
listening to garbage over and over again, even
most songs with big names on them are
garbage.

Yes, people feature well known artists
in the hope that their name will give their song
leverage,

but the truth is their big name can’t
save them, the song has to be worth listening to
for us to want to play it. Some people try to put
catchy slangs so that the song will be
memorable,

that’s cool, but that is all people do
these days.

They forget that the slangs without
the catchy tune still equals zero. Going butt
naked wont save your song if its not good (that
is for the ladies out there who think that is all it
takes).

Even Miley cirus,
Beyonce and Nikki Minaj
take the time to make good songs.

 They
just top it up with nudity cause they want to. No
one would buy their songs if they aren’t good,
and their fame will dwindle if they stopped
delivering good music.
Have a good song, a catchy stage name, some
well photographed pictures, a reasonable
amount of promotion and viola, you get heard all
over the country. Good luck.
