Buhari’s Visit: ‘We are winning’, says Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyer

In his first working visit to Imo State since winning a second term, President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday said it was absurd to him that any Igbo man would be considering exiting Nigeria as the region dominates the economy of the country. The president also assured that at the end of his eight-year tenure in May 2023, most economic and security challenges faced by the country would have been addressed.

The president made the assertions in Owerri at a town hall meeting with Southeast leaders, which was the first time Imo would host a president on a working visit since 2009.

“It is unthinkable for me that any Igbo man would consider himself not to be a part of Nigeria. The evidence is there for everyone to see that Igbos are in charge of Nigeria’s economy,” he said.
Buhari also said he wanted to be remembered as the president who stabilised the Nigerian security and economic situations and delivered prosperity and triumphs over corruption. The president reiterated his commitment to credible and fair elections in 2023 and promised to complete the Second Niger Bridge as well as other ongoing federal projects in the Southeast geo-political zone.

Meanwhile, The leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, is amazed by the resoluteness of IPOB members, his lead counsel, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has said. This is as he also said that officials of the Department of State of Service no longer treat Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyers in a despicable manner. He said this after the legal team visited the separatist leader in DSS custody on Thursday, the same day the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), visited Imo State.

The PUNCH reports that as a form of protest, IPOB ordered a sit-at-home during Buhari’s visit. During the visit, Buhari wondered why some Igbo men are clamouring for separation. He described as “unthinkable” attempts by any Igbo man to leave the country. The lawyer had earlier faulted the reasons given by officials of the Department of State Services for stopping lawyers from visiting the IPOB leader.

In an update about the Thursday visit, the lawyer said, “I visited Our indefatigable Client-Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in the company of his younger brother- Prince Emmanuel Kanu (Fine Boy), in apparent compliance with the guidelines for our routine visits.

“Our Client- Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has always been in a good spirit and his convictions have remained unwavering.

“We had far-reaching discussions that pertained to our professional services, and family concerns which were all addressed.

“He is amazed and impressed by the resoluteness of his millions of supporters and lovers of freedom. He is indeed, lacking in words to convey the depth of his gratitude and appreciation to you all.

“I am glad to inform millions of our supporters, wellwishers and Umuchineke, that following the outrage that greeted the despicable manner in which we were treated in the past weeks during these routine visits, the officials of the State Security Service have made a volte-face.

“We cannot hesitate to alert the world should there be any further change in their methodology, any day any time.

“Our Client- Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was very much impressed with the level of progress so far recorded by the legal team ably led by my humble self, and other people of good conscience.
Other details that may interest you further, shall remain private, as details of our legal strategy have been agreed to remain private.

“Be assured that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Never you lack focus but intensify your prayers for our dear Client-Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and all of us in the legal team. Forward ever and backward never, until victory is achieved. We are winning.”

Mother-In-Law Whines About Not Being Allowed At Birth So Online Strangers Put Her In Her Place

I reminded her that I was a nurse for 40 years, so there is nothing I haven’t seen. I’ve tried to reason with Steven, but he seems to be afraid of angering Julia and will not help.

I called Julia’s parents and asked them to please reason with their daughter, but they brusquely and rather rudely got off the phone. I’ve felt nothing but heartache since learning I would be banned from the delivery room.

Steven told me I could wait outside and I would be let in after Julia and the baby are cleaned up and “presentable.” Meanwhile, Julia’s mother will be able to witness our grandchild coming into the world. It is so unfair.

I’ve always been close to my son, but I no longer feel valued. I cannot bring myself to speak to Julia. I’m being treated like a second-class grandmother even though I’ve never been anything but supportive and helpful. How can I get them to see how unfair and cruel their decision is?

“I feel pained that a man I called my father used me many times” – Girl impregnated by father recounts

Bayelsa man who impregnated 12-year-old
daughter.
The young girl who was impregnated by her
father, has asked the Nigeria police to jail her
father for repeatedly molesting her.
The 12-year-old identified as Queen, was
carrying a four-month-old pregnancy for her
father, Bamekpa, before he took her to a place
where an abortion was carried out to forcefully
eject the growing foetus.
The incident which was reported at the police
station, was said to have happened at Imiringi,
Ogbia local government area of Bayelsa state.
The alleged father has since been arrested and
detained at the Criminal Investigation
Department (CID) of the state police command,
the police are said not to be taking any positive
step on the matter which the youngster is quite
irrational.
The abused girl had yet to make a statement
as at press time and th police was yet to meet
officially with Operation Rescue (OR), the non-
governmental organisation (NGO) handling the
matte, but she relived her ordeal in the hands of
her father and called on the Inspector-General of
Police, Solomon Arase, to step in to ensure
justice.
The SS1 student said: “I want my father to be
thrown into prison. I feel pained that a man I
called my father used me many times to satisfy
his sexual urge.”
The 12-year-old continued: “He started sleeping
with me in 2015. The first time he did it, I was in
my room reading when he came in. He asked me
the kind of school I would like to go. Then he
came close to me.
“When I stood up to go, he asked me to wait and
started touching me all over my body. I asked
him what he was doing but he told me to keep
quiet and immediately pushed me into the bed.
“He tied my hands backwards. When he saw
that I was shouting, he covered my mouth with
his hand, He started doing it increasingly from
that time. I always cried and begged him to leave
me but he would not listen.”
Although she was too scared to tell anybody
what transpired between her and the father,
Queen said her father threatened to kill her if
she did. However, the signs of pregnancy as
shown by the young girl raised suspicions by her
stepmother.
“When I became pregnant, I didn’t know. My
stepmother saw the signs and suspected that I
was pregnant. It was when she began to ask me
who impregnated me that I told her. I learnt she
has moved out of the house.
“My father, seeing that I was pregnant, took me
to do an abortion. He took me to Elebele and
handed me over to his female friend named
Peace, who took me to a house in Otu-Aba.
“They did not allow me to see the process, but I
saw the instruments. It was very painful. After
that day, I started bleeding because he didn’t
abort the pregnancy completely. I was taken
back to Otu-Aba on December 5 and from there,
we went to Otu-Asiga to flush the remaining
one.
“I discovered later that my body system had been
messed up. I noticed I was no longer
menstruating. It was just recently that I was
taken to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC)
where an operation was done on me with
something like a container inserted into me.
They called it a minor operation. I went back to
FMC on Thursday to remove the container.
“I feel very bad. I want the police oga (police
boss) to put him in prison. He has been doing
similar things to many people,” Queen narrated.

Christian And Islamic Leaders Are Culpable For Plateau Crisis – Lawmaker

Plateau state govenor, Simon Lalong
The deputy speaker of the Plateau state
house of assembly, Yusuf Gagdi has
blamed religious leaders in the state for
the violence that has characterised the
state for sometime now.
According to Gagdi, one of the reasons
the consistent ethno-religious crisis in
Plateau state has not been resolved is
because the religious leaders in the state
do not tell themselves the truth.
Gagdi made the remarks while
addressing journalists about the
assembly’s committee on peace and
security, which he heads.
He said: “It is obvious that most
religious leaders are hiding the truth
about Plateau crisis. What a Jamaatu
Nasiru Islam (JNI) official will tell you in
the absence of Christian Association of
Nigeria (CAN) members, (he) will not
say same in the presence of CAN; same
also applies to (officials of) CAN.”
The deputy speaker also said the crisis
still exists because most people have
lost confidence in security officials,
adding that his committee at some point,
had to demand the redeployment of
some security officials.
“As a committee, if we discover that
people of a particular community no
longer have confidence in a security
official, we meet the head of such
security outfit for redeployment,” he
said.
He also stated that the loss of influence
by traditional rulers has also made the
crisis continue.
“…we have discovered that traditional
institutions are not in control of their
subjects,” he said.
According to Premium Times, he also
sighted said non-adherence to rule of
law as one of the factors causing the
crisis.
He said:“One of the major reason for the
trouble between Fulani herdsmen and
farmers in the state is due to cultivation
of grazing routes by farmers, and the
continued destruction of farm produce by
cows belonging to herdsmen.”
The lawmaker also frowned at
unnecessary barricade of roads by
communities describing it as “another
security treat.”
Meanwhile, the national leadership of the
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has
expressed shock over the sudden death
of its governorship flag-bearer in Plateau
state, Senator Gyang Pwajok.
Born on March 15, 1966, in Jos, Plateau
state, Gyang Nyam Shom, Pwajok,
popularly referred to as “G.N.S” based
on his initials, lived a greater part of his
childhood in the city.
