S.R.C. Suspends Unizik S.U.G. President, Probes Alleged Missing 6.2M In Union’s Account»»

The president of the students’ Union Government, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Comrade Ibe Chukwunonso has been suspended. This is coming in line with an alleged missing 6.2million from the unions fund, the transport sector.

The students’ representatives as earlier reported by NAUTIMES had yesterday summoned the president and the financial secretary, Comrade Chukwu Kenechi to both present an account of the happenings in the union’s transport sector. However, only the financial secretary accompanied by the treasurer honoured the invitation. All efforts to know the exact amount that then Union receives from the TTF i.e. transport proved abortive as the financial secretary could not tell. This is owing to the fact that the president receives the revenue directly from the persons (D.O.T. them) working in the sector. www.nautimes.info With the growing tension and the subsequent absence ofvthe president, he was issued a two weeks suspension as the search for the alleged 6.2 million Naira(the house made their own research and found this out) continues.

Explosion Rocks Kano School Of Hygiene»»»

A bomb blast suspected to be from an explosive device has just occurred at the School of Hygiene, Kano which is located along Gida Murtala Road. The high calibre improvised explosive device went off aroud 2pm at a time the school is in session. The blast appeared to come from a parking lot next to the provost’s office of the School of Hygiene, a post-secondary training school, said a teacher who requested anonymity. The spokesperson of the Kano Police, Magaji Majiya, confirmed the blast to reporters. He said the state’s Commissioner of Police and other officers were on their way to the scene of the blast. 3 Soldiers Killed As Suicide Bomber Attacks Military Post In Borno » »

Three soldiers were yesterday killed at a military post in Gwoza after a suicide car bomber suspected to be a Boko Haram member hit the post located near a secondary school in the Borno town. Three other soldiers were wounded in the incident which occurred at 7 a.m. The suspected suicide bomber came through Wala and Warabe villages on high speed and hit the military post, with deafening sound that rocked the town for seconds, before people started scampering for safety, Mallam Usman Yaro, yesterday told Vanguard in a telephone interview in Maiduguri. “We were woken up with a bomb blast on the road near the school, some of us started to run for safety while others fled into the school and hill tops of Gwoza. “I cannot tell you the exact casualties but three soldiers fell on the road side while others took to their heels for safety, as the car that contained explosives ripped into pieces to create a deep crater near the post. “None of the civilians was killed as people were still asleep when the suicide bomber detonated the explosives that killed him and three soldiers,” Yaro said. He said the casualty figure could have been higher, but people had been prevented from plying the road by the military for safety since last month. “Since the blast went off to destroy the military post, with the killing of three soldiers, the road was condoned off up till 4pm Sunday to allow some of the people in the market to go to their houses safely,” he explained. There are reports that a massive explosion today, June 5 at about 6pm rocked Governor of Gombe state, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo’s residence. There has been no report on the number of casualties and damage caused by the explosion. Although no group has claimed responsibility for the bomb blast as described by Eyewitness. The Police, Fire Department and military officials are however reported to be presently at the scene of the incident. Government officials are reported to be encouraging members of the public to go about their normal duties as security operatives are on the matter. Sahara reporters gathered that a Police Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) that was stationed in front of his house was the target in the bomb blast. This explosion is coming few days after the Emir of Gwoza, Alhaji Idrisa Timta died in an attack by suspected Boko Haram sects on May 27.
